Evaluations Scheduled for March 3rd/4th
Evaluations to be held the first weekend of MarchUpdated Friday February 9, 2018 by Winston Salem National Little League.
WSNLL will hold evaluations for players participating in the Spring 2018 season. Evaluations will be held at the WSNLL complex at 5542 Phillips Bridge Road in Winston Salem on Saturday March 3rd and Sunday March 4th weather permitting. All players need to attend an evaluation session with the exception of T Ball and Juniors players, who do not need to go through the evaluation process.
Why does my child need to participate in evaluations?
Our goal is to evaluate all players confidentially to form teams that best position players for ability and safety reasons. A quick evaluation process allows us to get a feel for the level a child may play at. We also get comments for returning players from their previous years' coach and factor in age as well.
What do I need to bring to evaluations?
If you have a glove, bat and helmet bring them to evaluations. Baseball pants will be worn by some, but are not required.
How long will evaluations last?
We will have a check in table and then try to cycle kids through 5-6 at a time. The actual evaluation time takes about 10 minutes.
My child is really worried about evaluations!
We keep it light hearted. Most kids haven't played in a while and if they are struggling, we will use a tee and make sure they have a good experience.
What will they do at evaluations?
We will time them running, have them take some infield ground balls, outfield balls and hit a few balls as well. The 6-9 year old group will hit off of a machine or tee.
What if I have questions or can't make either date?
Don't hesitate to contact us.
When will I hear about my team assignment?
Assuming the weather cooperates, we will assign teams and hope to play our first games on March 24th with practices starting the week after Daylight Savings begins on March 11th.
